About David

David Barsky, the longtime bassist of The Higgs in Southern California, has spent the last 20 years touring the country and sharing the stage with incredible musicians. In 2016, he underwent two brain surgeries to remove a large tumor—and after several years of stability, the tumor began to grow back.

In February 2025, David underwent a third brain surgery. Just over a month later, during his first attempt to return to the stage, he experienced a severe seizure. When he regained consciousness, both of his shoulders were broken. Surgeries on both shoulders followed that week, and he’s now in the midst of a long recovery—preparing to begin chemotherapy and radiation to help prevent further tumor growth.
